2019 Honoree - Cary Curry
Curry is President of Curry Auto Center, established by his family in 1915. Curry, who leads 110 employees, believes that building lasting relationships with his employees and customers is the key to success of his family’s 104-year-old business. Curry and his wife Julie have two sons and daughter in law,
Joseph, Savannah and James, and the family is active at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church where Cary was ordained as an Elder in 2005. In the past 12 years he has mentored more than 100 male college students, and he completed his first book, “An Unlikely Discipler,” co-authored with Dann Denny and released in 2017.
Curry has been proactive in many causes in Bloomington including transportation support for Centerstone, the Boys and Girls Club, Bloomington Health Foundation, as well as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Indiana University Auditorium and Athletics, Scholarships at our local high schools, Pet’s Alive and the lead gift for the Buskirk-Chumley Theatre to mention just a few.
Half of the proceeds from the Toast will benefit Curry’s chosen charity, “The Compassionate & Caring Community Fund” at the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County. The Fund supports causes ranging from at-risk children and critical illness support for individuals facing cancer or other critical diseases to programs that promote conflict resolution and civil discourse and programs that provide mentoring for people of all ages.
